DMARC checker

Enter a domain. We look up its DMARC record at _dmarc.domain and explain each setting: what receivers do with mail that fails, and where the reports go.

The basics

What is DMARC?

DMARC tells receivers what to do when an email claims to come from your domain but fails SPF and DKIM: let it through, send it to spam, or refuse it. It also asks them to send you reports, so you can see who sends mail in your name.

Which policy should I use?

Start with p=none and an rua= address, read the reports for a few weeks, then move to quarantine and finally reject once all your real mail passes.

Does p=none protect me?

Not by itself. It only collects reports. Spoofed mail still gets through until you move to quarantine or reject.

What is alignment?

DMARC passes only if SPF or DKIM passes for the same domain as the «From» address. Relaxed alignment also accepts subdomains of it.

How often can I check?

Up to 60 lookups an hour from your network. On the DKIM checker, «Try the common ones» counts as one.

Do you store what I look up?

We keep your IP address and the time for one hour, only to limit how often you can check. We don’t keep the domain or address you entered. Results are cached for a few minutes, so a repeat check may show the same answer.
