PingWise vs HetrixTools
HetrixTools checks from several locations on every round, like we do, and gives 15 monitors at 1 minute for free. PingWise adds 15 probes on 5 providers and needs 10 to agree.
Which one should you pick?
HetrixTools is one of the few services that, like us, checks every scheduled round from several locations at once, and it is generous: 15 monitors every minute from 4 locations on the free plan, the best free 1-minute offer in this comparison. It adds a free server agent and blacklist monitoring for IPs and domains, which matter to hosting companies.
Pick PingWise if you want a stricter rule and more ground covered. HetrixTools alerts when more than half of the locations you selected fail. We use 15 probes in 15 cities on 6 continents, run by 5 different providers, and page you only when 10 of them, on at least 3 continents and 3 providers, fail two rounds in a row. We also report WAF challenges as “blocked”, and every alert shows what each probe saw.
For 50 monitors every minute the table below shows €7.55 a month here and $15 there. Up to 15 monitors every minute, both are free: theirs checked from 4 locations, ours confirmed by 15 probes on 6 continents.

Where HetrixTools is the better choice
Being honest about this saves everyone time.
Blacklist monitoring
HetrixTools checks IPs and domains against 94 blacklists. If your mail server lands on one, you hear about it. We don’t offer this yet. For hosting companies and anyone running a mail server, that matters as much as uptime.
A free server agent
HetrixTools includes a server agent for CPU, memory, disks, RAID and services, at no extra cost. We only check from the outside. If you want CPU, disk and service alerts in the same dashboard as uptime, it costs nothing there.
SMS alerts
HetrixTools documents SMS alerts. Ours follow after launch. If a text message is the only alert that wakes you, HetrixTools has it today.
What PingWise does differently
- Every scheduled check runs from several cities at once, not from one place with a retry.
- The moment one probe sees a failure, every healthy probe checks again, free, before anyone is paged.
- Nothing pages you until two thirds of our 15 probes (10) fail, on at least 3 continents and 3 different providers, two rounds in a row.
- A WAF or Cloudflare challenge is reported as “blocked”, never as down.
- Every alert says what each probe saw: resolved IP, status code, timing and error.
- Prepaid credits, no subscription: 650,000 free every month, packs from €5, bought credits last 24 months.
