A status page can answer on a hostname of yours, for example status.example.com. The hostname must be under a domain you have verified, and one hostname can serve one page.
Steps
In the page's Own address tab, enter the hostname. The tab then shows three DNS records to add, in this order:
- a TXT record that proves the hostname is yours;
- a TXT record for the certificate;
- a CNAME from your hostname to
pages.pingwise.com.
If your DNS is on Cloudflare, set the CNAME to DNS only (grey cloud), not proxied; the certificate is issued through our side and a proxied record would stop that.
The page goes live when both the hostname and its certificate show active; the tab re-checks each time you open it, or on Check again, and the address usually answers within a few minutes of the records being visible. The certificate is a domain-validated one, renewed by us, with TLS 1.2 as the minimum. There is nothing to install or renew on your side.
After it is live
The page answers on both addresses; links in emails and the badge use the custom one. Changing the hostname later takes the same three records for the new name and the old one stops answering within seconds of the change.
